Small package needed
Dear Aloha Island Weddings,

My name is Clair Chandler and I found your website on the internet. I am
getting married in Honolulu on August 4th at 11:00 am - hopefully at Waialae
Beach Park. I say hopefully because I'm in a bit of a dilemma. My fiancee and
I are about to be third year law students at Texas Tech. After getting engaged
on New Years Eve, I started planning immediately and contacted Tammy Wright
with Hawaii Weddings By Design, who appeared to be very knowledgeable and gave
me an estimate for the small beach wedding I had in mind. After checking her
out with the Better Business Bureau and other sources, I paid her a $1000
deposit by credit card in mid-February, which she supposedly needed to book my
reception, flowers, cake and photographer. By mid-March, she was no longer
returning my emails and phone calls but I assumed she was busy (as was I,
trying to balance school and a clerkship). I attempted to contact her again
during finals, but to no avail. Her website was shut down, her voice mail
full, and I have never felt so helpless and desperate. Furthermore, my
reception, which was supposed to be at the Ocean Terrace, was not booked and my
cake order with Cake Lava was not placed. Sasha informed me last night that
Tammy has shut down her business and has not been in contact with other brides
either. I am currently clerking for a law firm in Houston, putting in long
hours, and I am stressed beyond belief that things were not taken care of like
I had thought. We are actively pursuing legal avenues in an attempt to get my
money back, but until then...the show must go on! The invitations are going
out in about a week!

The wedding we have in mind is very simple. We will only have about 10-15
guests maximum. Our local pastor has gone through the licensing process in
Hawaii and will be flying out to conduct the wedding. These are the things I
need assistance with:
* Cake: I want a 2-tier coconut/pineapple cake with fondant icing.
* Photography: We will need 2 hours maximum. I would prefer someone who does
a digital CD and gives it to us afterward to develop as we see fit, but I'm
more concerned about creativity and quality.
* Videography: We want it on DVD, edited, with music. It would be nice to
pick the song since we have a song that really means something to us.
* Bouquet: I just need the bridal bouquet. We have no attendants. I want
bright colors: orange/mango, yellow and fuschia. I had thought hibiscus or
calla lilies with greenery.
* Maile Lei for the groom
* Decorated bamboo arch (though this will be the thing that goes if we have to
cut costs somewhere)
* Lunch reception. Since we're not having music or attendants, our pastor has
informed us the wedding will be exactly 8 minutes long. We planned on cutting
the cake at the reception, which could probably be held at noon if that's
enough time for pictures.
* Dress and veil steaming (which I'm sure it will need after making the long
flight!)
Please contact me at your earliest convenience. I'm somewhat hard to reach by
phone right now due to working so many hours, but my number is 806-928-8881.
Thank you for your time and any assistance you can give us,
Clair
