A Red & the Green Affair

Never had Aloha island Weddings used just these colors before so i set to
discover what are some possibilities for this unique combination other than Christmas decorations"
writes Paul head coordinator of Aloha Island Weddings

Making waves with a Red and Green Wedding

A tropical wedding in Hawaii: fluffy clouds, blue ocean , the sand, lava rocks and yes Red and Green color theme, This April Jill and Ron from Calgary Canada decided to come to Hawaii with their closest friends and family for a wedding ceremony on Oahu on the Windward side of the island. Jill wanted the use  of the color red in her wedding and fiancé now husband Ron loves green so they decided to used their two colors in coordination to create their own unique wedding on the beach in Hawaii.

Red and lime green setting theme with lava rocks of the Hawaiian island of Oahu where jill and ron gets married

Gill and Ron's Wedding setup with the green orchids on the sand white orchids on the lava rocks, sprays of green orchids on the aisle way
mixing with the laupaka fauna material used for the white wedding arch is the silk chiffon of lime green and soft light red.

So since the couple wanted to use light roses and incorporate the indigenous flowers of Hawaii of the red and green theme into their spring Hawaiian wedding, i searched for fauna in the local markets native to Hawaii.  Petite anthuriums are native to the land and come in bright reds that will surely bring flavor to any bridal bouquet! Mix these with lava plants that not only come in a bright red as well but also have luscious greens surrounding the blossom!

The dendodrium orchid that is green Gill choose as her main flower for the aisle path way she continued on with the flowers by adding bunches of white orchids on the lava rocks as you notice in the photo courtesy those intertwined with with forest green laupaka plant native to the shores of Hawaii completes the look. I found this design to be  simple yet elegant aisle way up to the  to the white trellis wooden arch combining  red and green chair sashes together gave the final touch to the setup.
For this Oahu bride Gill on her bouquet she uses a French style globe with white and red full roses and  green Cymbidium orchids which in Hawaii  may be hard to find even though they are now grown locally on the big island of Hawaii, sometimes they need to be ordered from New Zealand.

For Jill and Ron wedding cake used a satin light red ribbon around a square double 7 and 9 inch layered cake from Mary Catharine's bakery. three fresh green Cymbidium flowers orchids with a dark red lip was added for the top bouquet on the cake.  White  butter cream frosting  on both layers  with vanilla cream chiffon and filling for the bottom and dark royal hawaiian chocolate on the top
