Greetings Paul,
We haven't communicated in a while, so I just wanted to touch base with you to
be sure everything is on track for our Wedding December 19 at 4:30 pm at the
Kahala Mandarin Hotel. I have attached a recent photo of us in Las Vegas.
Additionally, I know that we still need to iron out a few details, such as the
officiant.
We do have a few things we do and do not want as part of the ceremony, which may
impact officiant choice. For example, we are not doing a ring exchange, but
would like a version of the hand ceremony instead (we already have it picked
out). We do not want mention of children or having children during the ceremony,
as we do not want to have any ourselves. We have already selected formal
responsive vows that we like and will likely also say a few unscripted words to
each other. Also, although neither Steve nor I are incredibly religious, I am
Lutheran, as would like the Final Commentary of the service to use the Lutheran
wording: "The Lord bless you and keep you both. The Lord make His face to shine
upon you and be gracious upon you. The Lord lift His countenance upon you and
give you his peace. Amen."
We would like to incorporate a lei exchange with our families.
Then, please no "you may kiss the bride". I think it is absurd that a grown man
is given permission to kiss a grown woman, particularly when we have been
together for 8 years. Rather, "you may kiss" or " please close the ceremony with
a kiss" or something of the sort. Also, please, no introduction as Mr. & Mrs.
Rousseau. I'm not changing my name, so "I now present the newly married couple,
LaDonna and Steve" is much preferred.
I have a draft of an order of service we have put together if it would be
helpful to you in lining up an officiant. Just let me know. Please keep in mind
that it is a draft and not the final version at this time.

Aloha Paul & Gail,
Date we are currently entertaining: December 19, 2005. We discussed a late afternoon wedding (around 4:30ish to make time for the first photo shoot earlier in the day.)
We will not be needing the arch or chapel with chairs, as we will be using the Kahala KoKo head Gazebo. The small number of guests will stand during the ceremony.
We are still looking into the choice of minister. Please send info
you have on those you'd recommend. Of course it will be a
non-denominational ceremony and we would like to use a mix of
traditional and non-traditional vows. Our parents will be performing a
few readings and we are considering a family lei exchange. We'd
also like to learn more about the traditional Hawaiian ceremony.
Trad Hawaii ceremony usually includes a mele chant
blessing in Hawaiian while you are walking down the aisle a conch shell
is blown
nd then you have exchanging of the leis.
Musician: Hawaiian guitarist. Can you please tell us what songs are usually played during the ceremony and if we have some choices to make with regard to songs. Also, is music played with the processional.
Yes we have guitarist that play traditional Hawaiian Songs and we also have guitarist that play classical many of them take request so if you have a fav song let us know .
I have a photo of a bouquet and colors I' d like to use. I'll attach
it so you can give me feedback. I love orchids (lucky for me they are
so abundant there.) We'd like a maile lei for the groom.
I will send you some pics also of orchis bouquets
that we have made, also you may customize one if you like
You suggested upgrading the photo package from 100 color and 35 B&W(including
photo CD and negatives) by adding another 50 photos. Please send us an
estimate of the price increase for this option. Also, can you please
find out if the Byodo-in Temple charges a fee for the photo shoot there
and how much that will be. Additionally, will there need to be a
reservation made with the temple in order to have our photos there?
I will give you the extra photos no charge i will
also pick you both up and take you there its about a 35 min drive
With regard to the cake, do we have flavor choices?
Vanilla
Vanilla Cream
Chocalate
Dark rich Chocalate
Strawberries and Cream
Kona cream { Hawaiian Coffee Flavor}
Passion Fruit
Haupia { Hawaiian Coconut}
Guava { Hawaiian Fruit}
We both love coconut if that's an option.
Yes, we will have it decorated with your flower wedding theme
We just need a small one since it will be us with our parents.
Steve and I will be looking forward to review the updated prices and
information.
Mahalo,
LaDonna & Steve

Warmest Regards,
LaDonna Saxon & Steve Rousseau
Greetings Paul. I hope the year has been treating you well. Steve and I wanted
to touch base with you about a few things, as our wedding on Dec 19th is now
only a month away.
First, we noticed you now have the ministers on your website. After reviewing
the info you have, the more mainstream Christian based ministers such as Chris
Cain, Rev. Neil, John Bullock or Rev. Lesch would probably be most appropriate
for us. Ms. Bassett and Alice Inoe would not really be a good fit for us. We are
of course open to suggestions from you regarding the ministers available on our
wedding date.
We have reserved Rev John
Second, we will have 8 guests plus ourselves. In order to have a sparkling wine
toast and cake for everyone, I have a question regarding serving pieces. Do you
commonly provide the knife and cake server, plates/napkins, etc as well as
toasting glasses? I don't think we can get on our plane with a knife, so that
issue brought these questions to mind.
We will take care of this issue at the Kahala mandarin and
will have this all provided for you.
Third, we need to set up the wedding license appointment with you. We are
starting to schedule hair/make-up trials, sightseeing trips, outings with
guests, etc and need to get a time for this task reserved with you so that there
is not a problem with scheduling events.
Yes I will pick you up and take you to the office
Fourth, as we will be taking picutres at the Kahala prior to the sunset
ceremony,
Pictures start at 330pm
what time will you need our parents to be available at the Kahala for
photos? They are not staying at that hotel, so we need to know what time they
should arrive.
Fifth, we are considering having a limo pick up our guests and bring them to the
Kahala, then return us to the Royal Hawaiian Luau after the ceremony. We noticed
you have limo services now listed on your website. What would the cost for a
stretch limo be by the hour or for a package if you offer that?
95 an hour min two hours
Sixth, I am reattaching the photo of the floral arrangement I liked for my
bouquet. Please let me know if it will be a problem to create something similar
to this. Orchids are my favorite flowers, so I'd really like to have them in the
bouquet, particularly that apple green color.
Seventh, in reviewing our contract, I didn't see a preferred payment method.
Perhaps I overlooked it, but I wanted to touch base with you to make sure. Would
that be by personal check, cashiers check/money order, or credit card? We just
want to be able to plan appropriately so that the transaction goes smoothly.
We realize we have lots of questions. Thank you in advance for your attention
each of our questions. We look forward to your reply.
