If you are an avid fan of the
latest Photography gadgets, then you must have heard about the
digital SLR or the Single Lens Reflex camera. What sets this camera
apart from other non-SLR cameras is that when you look at the
viewfinder, you can actually see the exact object you are capturing.
This is because this camera is equipped with specialized moving
mirrors, the history of
photography cameras is continually evolving to more and more
sophisticated equipment so one needs to be continually learning the
cameras

The mirror system of this
camera guarantees amazing effects especially if you know how to use
them. The skills in handling and operating this camera aren’t that
hard. All it takes is just a little practice and for all you know,
you are already taking shots like a pro!
Most photography enthusiasts
don’t settle with anything less. They don’t usually go with a point
and shoot scheme especially when they have this digital SLR camera.
This gadget wasn’t originally designed for that anyways. So why not
maximize its function and use your equipment to capture wonderful
scenes.
A digital SLR camera’s
function can be maximized by not putting it into auto mode. Instead,
use the manual setting and sort of experiment on its manual
settings. One manual setting which you can manipulate to produce
amazing effects is the Shutter Speed.
Normally, we try to ask our
subjects to “pose” for us while adjusting the shutter speed to its
maximum. However, one good way to suggest movement is by adjusting
the shutter speed to a slower speed. This will allow you to capture
a great effect which is exemplified by motion. When you experiment
with a slower shutter speed, never forget to use a tripod because as
mentioned above, this captures motion and is therefore sensitive to
it.

So you are now informed of the
benefits of using a slower shutter speed setting. Next step is to
choose a subject where you can best practice taking photos using
this speed. The following are just some of the common but
interesting subjects to experiment on.
1. Cars. If you are living in
an urban area, you can capture cars at night. When doing your
photography during the night, you will need a slower shutter speed.
You can try adjusting your shutting speeds to one, two, or ten
seconds. You will be amazed at how the different lights accentuate
the photo. The effect will be bright colored lights stretching and
streaming away. The more traffic and the more vehicles you capture,
the more obvious the effect can be.
2. Perhaps the most obvious
and practical choice of subject is
nature photography
such as Waterfalls. Yes. This is how
professional photographers capture the flowing water amazingly.
Adjust you SLR camera to a slow speed as possible, preferably at
half second or one second mark. Or you can experiment on the speeds
and just find out which speed will create more effect. With this
setting you can definitely become your own team of pro
photographers!

If you want a more dramatic
effect, you can ask a friend to stand still in a pool of people
walking around in different directions. You can even let her do some
poses or make her emote. This will create an astounding effect
evoking a sort of emotional note. Aloha island weddings
