John & Dianna’s Sunset Wedding at Waialae Beach
John and Dianna were married on July 29, 2026, on the sand at Waialae Beach on Oahu, starting at 5:45 in the evening and finishing as the sun went down at about 7:15. They chose a custom package built around a white circle archway: a round arch dressed with white flowers and greenery, a white plumeria aisle lined with green leaves, conch shells and white candle lanterns. Dianna carried a tropical bouquet of bird of paradise, white orchids and green fern and wore a triple white orchid lei, and John wore a long green maile lei. Their officiant led a ceremony with the blowing of the Hawaiian conch shell, a prayer blessing in Hawaiian, a blessing of the rings, personal vows and a sand ceremony with black and white natural sand, and they signed an elegant decorative wedding certificate with tikis as a keepsake. Music played as they walked in, walked out and shared their first dance, and they toasted with champagne glasses and cut a one tier vanilla chiffon cake with strawberries and cream. Their photographer stayed for an hour and a half, through the ceremony and a golden sunset walk along the beach.

The setup
Their White Flower Circle Archway
Their circle archway stood on the sand facing the ocean, dressed with white flowers, white orchids and green monstera leaves. A white plumeria aisle with greenery on both sides led up to it, with conch shells and white candle lanterns along the way. Here it is from the afternoon light to twilight.
The bride
Dianna Before the Ceremony
Before the ceremony Dianna had her own portraits on the grass, under the palm trees and by the green naupaka bushes along the beach, in a white lace gown with her tropical bouquet in the evening sun.
The groom
John at the Archway
John waited at the circle archway by the ocean in a white shirt, and after the ceremony he wore his long green maile lei for portraits as the sky turned blue.
The ceremony
A Sunset Ceremony by the Sea
With the ocean right behind them, their officiant led the ceremony under the circle archway. They held hands, listened to the Hawaiian blessing and read the personal vows they had written for each other.
Hawaiian traditions
Leis, Rings & a Sand Ceremony
They exchanged leis, a long green maile lei for John and a triple white orchid lei for Dianna, then their rings were blessed and placed on each other’s fingers. For their sand ceremony they poured black and white natural sand together, blending them into one keepsake.
Just married
The Kiss & Just Married
Then came the first kiss as husband and wife under the archway, a walk back down the plumeria aisle and a happy celebration on the sand as the sun sank lower.
Portraits
Portraits at the Circle Archway
After the ceremony they stayed for portraits at the circle archway, from bright evening light to the soft blue of twilight.
Cake & toast
Cake by the Archway
Their one tier vanilla chiffon cake with strawberries and cream was topped with tropical flowers and set beside the archway, and they cut it together as the sky turned to twilight.
Sunset photo tour
A Sunset Walk on Waialae Beach
The evening ended with a walk along Waialae Beach: hugs at the water’s edge, laughter on the shore, kisses behind the bouquet and a pink and gold sky over the ocean.
