Their story
Juan & Gloria’s Sunset Proposal
On September 2, 2026, Juan and Gloria walked hand in hand through the ironwood trees and down onto the sand at Ke Iki Beach Park on the North Shore at 5:30 in the afternoon. Juan planned the whole surprise from out of state, and Gloria had no idea what was waiting at the end of the path.
Ahead of them, a long aisle of white and blush pink flowers led to a large flower half moon facing the ocean, with tiki torches standing all around it. Juan walked Gloria up the aisle to “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” got down on one knee, and she said yes. They stayed on the beach until the sun went down, with “Still Into You” by Hannah Trigwell and, for their first dance, “Risk It All” by Bruno Mars.
The setup
A Flower Half Moon & a Flower Aisle
Juan chose a custom proposal design: a super large half moon of white flowers and greenery with accents of light blush pink, big enough to stand inside to propose. A long aisle on a white carpet led up to it, lined on both sides with white and blush pink flowers and eight white bohemian candle holders, with four tiki fire torches around the setup.
The question
Down on One Knee on the North Shore
Inside the half moon, with the ocean right behind them and the sun getting low, Juan got down on one knee and opened the ring box. Our photographer captured every second, from the surprise on Gloria’s face to their first kiss as an engaged couple.
The ring
The Ring
Then the ring went on her finger, and the close ups show it sparkling in the North Shore light.
She said yes
Hugs in the Half Moon
After the yes came the hugs, a dip in the flower aisle and a lot of laughing inside the half moon of flowers.
Aloha
Leis and a Toast
Juan had white flower leis for both of them, and the two of them raised a toast on the sand.
He asked
“He Asked, I Said Yes”
They held up little wooden signs that read “He asked” and “I said yes,” and Gloria waved hers over Juan’s shoulder with a big smile.
Sunset on the beach
Why Propose at Sunset on the Beach
There is something about the last hour of daylight in Hawaii. The heat of the day fades, the trade winds soften, and the whole beach turns gold. For a proposal, that golden light is a gift: it is warm and flattering on everyone, it makes the flowers glow, and every photo looks like it was made for a frame.
A sunset proposal also has its own built in timeline. You arrive while the sun is still up so you can see the setup and each other’s faces clearly, ask the question as the light turns golden, and then celebrate as the sky fills with color. When the sun dips below the horizon, the tiki torches and candles take over, and the beach becomes a quiet, glowing place that feels like it belongs to just the two of you.
Beaches on Oahu’s North Shore, like Ke Iki, look out over the open ocean toward the sunset. We plan the start time around the sunset for your date, set everything up before you arrive so it stays a surprise, and our photographer follows you from the walk in, through the question, to the last light of the evening.
Golden hour
Golden Hour on Ke Iki Beach
As the sun dropped toward the ocean, the whole setup glowed: forehead to forehead in the sunlight, a lantern held high at the end of the aisle, and quiet moments sitting in the half moon.
Tiki torches
By the Tiki Torches
The tiki torches were lit as the sun went down, and their flames made the perfect backdrop for a few more kisses on the sand.
Sunset walk
A Sunset Walk Along the North Shore
Then it was down to the water, barefoot in the sand, hand in hand by the waves, and jumping for joy with the whole sunset sky behind them.
By torchlight
After the Sun Went Down
After sunset they sat together at a little wooden table on the sand, surrounded by white flowers and glowing tiki torches, and stayed close until the last light was gone.
The beach
Ke Iki Beach Park, North Shore
Ke Iki Beach Park is a wide stretch of golden sand on Oahu’s North Shore, with ironwood trees along the back of the beach and a clear view west over the ocean to the sunset.

In His Words
“I can’t thank Aloha Island Weddings enough for helping make one of the most memorable moments of my life so special! Planning my proposal from out of state was made so much easier thanks to how responsive, accommodating, and easy to work with they were.
Leading up to the big day, they provided clear instructions, parking information, and a location pin to make sure everything went smoothly. The beach setup was absolutely beautiful, and everything came together perfectly!
The photoshoot was a great experience, and the final photos and video exceeded our expectations! They captured amazing shots of us and the beautiful beach scenery, and the drone footage made everything even more special.
Highly recommend them to anyone planning a proposal in Hawaii! Thank you Paul for all of your help!”
