Weddings at the Hilton Hawaiian Village

At the west end of Waikiki, the Hilton Hawaiian Village is a village within itself: more than 20 acres of hotel towers, gardens, waterfalls, lotus ponds, pools, shops and restaurants, right on one of the widest beaches in Waikiki. It is the largest resort in Waikiki and a wonderful choice for couples who want everything in one place for their wedding and honeymoon.

The grounds are filled with tropical flowers and gardens, with colorful birds and wildlife throughout the resort. There is a calm lagoon with a small sandy island in the center, sailing, kayaking and sunset dinner cruises from the beach, live hula shows and fireworks over the water. Rooms range from mountain views to oceanfront suites across towers including the Rainbow, Tapa, Diamond Head, Alii and Kalia.

Aloha Island Weddings loves the Hilton for its lively, tropical island style, beautiful places for photos and unforgettable sunsets. If you would like something quieter, we also plan weddings in Kailua, about 25 minutes away, and on the country beaches of Waimanalo.

The Towers & Your Rooms

The village is made of towers, each with its own mood, and choosing one is the first sweet decision of your trip. The Rainbow Tower rises straight from the beach, its two sides covered in the famous rainbow mosaic, among the tallest ceramic tile murals in the world, and it is the tower you see behind nearly every Hilton wedding photo. Its rooms look down the whole curve of Waikiki to Diamond Head.

The Tapa Tower sits at the heart of the village with spacious, newly renovated rooms, close to the pools and shops. The Diamond Head Tower is a longtime favorite, a short stroll to the sand. The Kalia Tower stands back from the beach, quieter, with the Mandara Spa and an adults-only pool, a good choice for bridal pampering the morning of. And The Ali‘i is the village's boutique tower, with its own pool, concierge and check-in desk; it is being renovated and reopens in spring 2027. Hilton Grand Vacations towers such as the Lagoon Tower and the Grand Waikikian sit along the lagoon as well, lovely for families who want a kitchen and more room.

Many of our couples get ready in their room, with mom and the bridesmaids, then walk down through the gardens to the beach, no car needed. When your whole family stays together in one village, the wedding feels like a week of celebrating, not a single afternoon.

The AKALĀ Chapel

If your heart wants a chapel, the Hilton has a beautiful one. The AKALĀ Chapel is reached by a landscaped stairway that climbs past tumbling waterfalls to an airy second-story chapel with floor-to-ceiling windows, filled with soft island light. Beside it stands a garden gazebo, and below, the Village Green opens out with its waterfalls and koi pond, close to the main lobby, so guests can walk from the ceremony straight into the reception.

For a smaller, oceanfront chapel, the Paradise Chapel looks out across Waikiki Beach and the Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon, an intimate room for a traditional or Hawaiian ceremony with the sea as your witness.

The chapels are reserved through the Hilton's wedding team. We are happy to help you choose between the chapel and the beach, and to bring the flowers, leis, minister, ukulele, photography and video to whichever you choose. Call us at 1-808-294-9385.

Waterfalls & Gardens

Walk the grounds and you will hear water before you see it. Waterfalls spill over lava rock into koi ponds, streams wind beneath the palms, and flamingos and penguins wander the lobby gardens, a surprise for guests of every age. The waterfall beside the AKALĀ Chapel stairway and the gardens around the Village Green are favorite spots for portraits between the ceremony and dinner, shaded, green and cool even on a bright afternoon.

Down by the sand, outrigger canoes rest under the trees, and the lawns along the beach turn gold at sunset. Our photographers know where the light falls at every hour, so we can move you from waterfall to lagoon to shoreline in a single, unhurried golden hour. See more of our waterfall weddings.

Restaurants & Receptions

After “I do” there are as many ways to celebrate as there are towers. For an intimate dinner, the Bali Oceanfront in the Rainbow Tower is the village's award-winning fine dining room, with a private dining room for small wedding dinners of about 14 guests and windows full of sunset. Reserve it directly with the restaurant at 808-941-BALI.

For a relaxed table, Tropics Bar & Grill sits right on the beach, the Tapa Bar has live entertainment at night, and the Rainbow Lanai serves an open-air breakfast by the sea, perfect for a morning-after brunch with family.

For a full reception, the Hilton's own venues include the Rainbow Suite & Patio, with doors opening to the lagoon and the Honolulu coastline, the Village Green among waterfalls and the koi pond for 100 guests or more, the Great Lawn, the largest private beachfront lawn in Waikiki, and the Coral, Tapa and South Pacific ballrooms. We can add a luau, fire knife dancers, hula and music, or plan a reception package elsewhere in Waikiki.

Duke Kahanamoku Beach & Lagoon

In front of the Hilton lies Duke Kahanamoku Beach, named for Duke Kahanamoku, the Olympic swimmer and father of modern surfing who grew up on these waters. It is the widest stretch of sand in Waikiki, protected by a rock breakwater, so the water stays gentle and clear, and the sand slopes softly into the sea. To the east, Diamond Head rises over the curve of the bay; to the west, the boats glide in and out of the Ala Wai harbor at sunset.

Beside the beach is the Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon, a calm saltwater lagoon ringed with sand and palms, where guests paddleboard and pedal boats drift by. Its still water reflects the Rainbow Tower like a mirror, and it is one of our favorite places for portraits, for a petal aisle on the sand, and for a lagoon-side ceremony away from the busier shoreline.

Our best tips: early morning is the quietest time on the sand, and the hour before sunset gives the softest light. Weekday ceremonies are calmer than weekends. The beach is public, so we choose a spot with room for your guests and set up just before you arrive. Parking is in the Hilton garage, or your guests can simply walk down from their rooms.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Hilton Hawaiian Village have a wedding chapel?

Yes. The AKALĀ Chapel is a second-story chapel with floor-to-ceiling windows, reached by a garden stairway past waterfalls, with a gazebo beside it. The smaller Paradise Chapel looks out over Waikiki Beach and the Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon. Chapels are booked through the resort, and we can plan the flowers, photography, minister and music around it.

Can we get married on the beach at the Hilton Hawaiian Village?

Yes. The Hilton sits on Duke Kahanamoku Beach, one of the widest stretches of sand in Waikiki. Most of our Hilton couples marry on the beach by the lagoon, below the Rainbow Tower, steps from their rooms. Tell us your date and we will suggest the best spot and time.

Which Hilton tower should we stay in?

The Rainbow Tower is right on the beach with the famous mosaic and views of Diamond Head. The Tapa Tower is central and spacious, the Diamond Head Tower is close to the sand, the Kalia Tower has the spa and an adults-only pool, and the Ali'i is the private boutique tower with its own pool (it reopens in spring 2027 after renovation).

Where can we have our reception at the Hilton?

For a small dinner, the Bali Oceanfront private dining room seats about 14. Larger groups can use the Rainbow Suite and Patio over the lagoon, the Village Green with its waterfalls and koi pond, the Great Lawn on the beach, or one of the ballrooms. Many couples also simply book a table at Tropics Bar and Grill or Bali Oceanfront after a beach ceremony.

Can we get ready in our Hilton room?

Yes. Getting ready in your room or suite makes for relaxed mornings and lovely photos, and our photographers can start there before the ceremony.

Where can we take photos at the Hilton?

The lagoon, the beach below the Rainbow Tower, the waterfall gardens, the outrigger canoes and the palms along the sand all make beautiful backdrops, especially at sunset.
