Ten years after they first said “I do,” Ruby and Albert came to Oahu to say it again, with their daughter beside them in a crown of white flowers. A white limousine from the Sheraton Waikiki, vows on the Kahala shoreline on May 25, 2022, and a golden sunset at Magic Island with all of Waikiki lit up behind them.

Ruby & Albert
Some promises are worth making twice. For their tenth anniversary, Ruby and Albert flew to Honolulu with their daughter and planned a day that felt like a second wedding, only sweeter, because now there were three of them.
The day began at the Sheraton Waikiki, where a white limousine waited to carry the family along the coast past Diamond Head to Kahala. Ruby wore a lace gown and a long veil, Albert a cream linen suit and a maile lei, and their daughter a flowing dress and a crown of white flowers to match her mother’s.

Vows by the Sea at Kahala
On a bright morning on the Kahala shoreline, white columns crowned with orchids, roses and bird of paradise framed the turquoise sea, and an aisle of pink, white and yellow petals ran across the lawn to a heart of flowers. Ruby and Albert renewed the promises they had made ten years before, exchanged fresh leis, and kissed between the columns while their daughter cheered.
Ten years later, the same kiss, sweeter for every year between.

Signed again
A Certificate Signed with Their Daughter
Then came a sweet little ceremony of its own: the family gathered around their vow renewal certificate, their daughter leaning in close as her parents signed their names again, ten years after the first time, and held it up proudly by the sea.
Their daughter watched them sign their names again, ten years on.

The Kahala shoreline
Lava Rocks, Palms and White Sand
Afterward the three of them wandered the shoreline: past the leaning palms and sea grape, out onto the dark lava rocks above the bay, and down to the white sand where Ruby and Albert walked hand in hand with the water lapping at their feet.

Golden hour
Sunset at the Magic Island Lagoon
As the sun sank toward the horizon, the lagoon turned to gold. There was a sunburst kiss, Albert down on one knee all over again, a piggyback on the sand, a twirl of lace, and even a cloud of purple smoke drifting across the beach.
The sun slipped between them, as if it wanted to be part of the moment.

Where they stayed
The Sheraton Waikiki
Ruby, Albert and their daughter stayed at the Sheraton Waikiki, right on Waikiki Beach at 2255 Kalakaua Avenue, with Diamond Head at one end of the bay and the shops and restaurants of Kalakaua at the front door. Their white limousine picked them up at the hotel entrance: Kahala Beach is about 15 minutes away along the coast past Diamond Head, and Magic Island about 10 minutes the other way.

How long had they been married?
Ten years. Their daughter stood beside them in a crown of white flowers and helped sign the vow renewal certificate.
