Waimanalo Bay, on the windward side of Oahu, is one of the longest white sand beaches on the island, about three miles of soft sand stretching all the way to Bellows. The water glows turquoise, Rabbit Island floats just offshore, and the green, steep Ko'olau mountains slope down toward the sea. Behind the beach, tall ironwood trees shade the part of the park known as Sherwood Forest.
It is about a 35 to 40 minute drive from Waikiki along the coast, and over the years Aloha Island Weddings planned many weddings and vow renewals here. Below are some of our favorite Waimanalo couples, a little about each of their days, and links to their own wedding pages.

Lauren & Johnathan
Lauren and Johnathan said “I do” at 2:30 in the afternoon on the beach at Sherwood Forest, with friends and family who flew in from California. Their setup was bright and tropical, with fresh flowers for the bride's hair, and the celebration carried on that evening at a reception in Waikiki.

Toshi & Suzanne
Suzanne and Toshi flew all the way from Japan to be married in Hawaii. Their tiki man theme had a dark bamboo archway draped in ocean blue, chiavari chairs, an orange, pink and white tropical bouquet, a rainbow plumeria lei and maile lei, ukulele music and a hula dancer. Pastor John Fuchigami led the ceremony, blew the conch shell as they kissed, and the couple toasted with guava juice under their arch.

Karissa & Brian
Karissa wanted an eccentric, joyful wedding full of bright Hawaiian flowers. We built a green palm frond archway on the sand with tiki torches, dark pink hibiscus and stargazer lilies down the aisle, bird of paradise and wild Hawaiian fern, with yellow and pink plumerias along the walkway. Her stargazer bouquet matched, the bridesmaids danced a little hula before the ceremony, and the day ended with a playful cake fight on the beach.

Kate & Kenny
Kate and Kenny married late in the morning under an arch of pink and white chiffon with white hydrangeas, light pink hibiscus and swirls of dark pink plumerias on the sand. Their little flower girl led the way with a “Here Comes the Bride” sign, and the fun continued with a photo booth at their reception in Waikiki.

Marsha said her vows as she walked down the aisle to Patrick, waiting under a bamboo archway hung with pink fuchsia orchids and guarded by two carved tiki men, Lono and Kāne. Paul played “Can't Help Falling in Love” on the golden harp, the aisle was covered in multi color plumerias, and the guests finished the day dancing the Hukilau hula.

A 10 Year Vow Renewal Under the Palms
For this 10 year vow renewal we wove a colorful palm frond archway on the sand, lined the aisle with bright yellow and pink flowers and purple chairs, and gathered the whole family together on the beach.
“The stars are my candles, the sun is my light, the clouds are my shade, and the translucent blue sky my stained glass windows. The sound of the sea is a choir and the gentle wind the movement of love. With sand beneath our feet, we will marry in God's own cathedral.”

Where is Waimanalo Beach?
Waimanalo Bay is on the windward (east) side of Oahu, about a 35 to 40 minute drive from Waikiki along the coast and about 10 minutes from Kailua. Sherwood Forest, the part of Waimanalo Bay Beach Park where many of these weddings took place, has ironwood trees right behind the sand.
What is Waimanalo Beach like?
It is one of the longest white sand beaches on Oahu, about three miles long, with turquoise water, Rabbit Island offshore and the green Ko'olau mountains rising behind the shore.
