Oahu Beach Weddings: 7 Best Beaches, Real Couples & Prices
Oahu beach weddings are where the ocean does half the decorating. Turquoise water, soft white sand, palm trees leaning toward the sea and Diamond Head watching over it all: on Oahu you can say “I do” with your toes in the sand in the morning and be back at your hotel pool by lunch. We have been planning beach weddings on this island since 2000, and these are the beaches we love most, with our real couples, short videos and honest prices.
Oahu Beach Weddings at a Glance
Every beach on Oahu is public, so the best spot is the one that matches your dream and your hotel. Here is the short version:
Planning a wedding near Waimanalo or Makapuu? Those beaches are now closed to commercial weddings, so we take our couples to the beaches below instead.
Waialae Beach Park: Palms and Calm Water in Kahala
Just past Diamond Head, about ten minutes from Waikiki, Waialae Beach Park is a quiet crescent of sand under tall coconut palms. The reef keeps the water calm and shallow, so there are very few swimmers in the background of your photos, and the trade winds keep the afternoon soft and cool. It is one of our most loved beaches for weddings, proposals and vow renewals.

Right next door is The Kahala Hotel & Resort, a lovely place to get ready before walking down to the sand. Naomi and Elijah did exactly that, with a golden harp and a violin playing as she walked down the aisle.

Kahala Beach: A Vow Renewal by the Palms
Walk a few minutes along the sand from Waialae and you reach Kahala Beach, a quiet strip of shoreline backed by lawns, sea grape and leaning coconut palms, with lava rocks at the water’s edge and the reef keeping the sea calm and bright. It is a dreamy place for an intimate ceremony and one of our favorite stretches for photos.

Ruby and Albert renewed their vows here after ten years of marriage, with their daughter beside them in a crown of white flowers, between columns of tropical flowers and an aisle of pink and yellow petals, then signed their certificate with the sea as their witness. Kahala is lovely for Oahu beach weddings too, and for proposals and family photo shoots.

Duke Kahanamoku Beach: A Lagoon Wedding in Waikiki
At the quiet western end of Waikiki, in front of the Hilton Hawaiian Village, lies the widest stretch of sand on the south shore, sheltered by a rock breakwater and named for Duke Kahanamoku, the Olympic swimmer and father of modern surfing. Beside it sits a calm saltwater lagoon that reflects the famous Rainbow Tower like a mirror.

Magic Island: Lawns, Banyan Trees and Sunsets
Between Waikiki and downtown Honolulu, Magic Island is a peninsula of green lawns, palms and a calm lagoon at the end of Ala Moana Beach Park. It is perfect for a larger group: there is room for chairs, giant banyan trees for shade and photos, Diamond Head across the water, and some of the best sunsets in Honolulu.

Kualoa: Where the Mountains Meet the Sea
On the windward side, about 45 minutes from Waikiki, the green cliffs of the Koʻolau mountains rise straight up behind the sand, and the little island of Mokoliʻi (Chinaman’s Hat) floats in the bay. If you have seen the valleys in the movies, this is that coastline. Kualoa is breathtaking for ceremonies and even better for photos, one of the most dramatic backdrops for Oahu beach weddings.

Secret Beach at Ko Olina: The West Side
If you are staying at Ko Olina on the sunny West Side, Secret Beach is a hidden pocket of sand between the lagoons, with dark lava rocks, swaying palms and some of the most golden sunsets on the island, a favorite West Side choice for Oahu beach weddings. Come early or at sunset, and plan a little time for parking, as the lot is small.

The North Shore: Horses, Big Waves and Wide Sand
The North Shore is Oahu at its wildest and most romantic: long empty beaches, big winter waves and green ironwood trees. It is also where our horses live, at the polo field in Waialua, so it is the place for a horseback proposal or a ride along the sand after your vows.

After the Beach: Receptions on Oahu
Most Oahu beach weddings are small and relaxed, so many couples skip the big ballroom. After the ceremony you might share an oceanfront dinner in Waikiki, gather everyone at a luau, or ask us for our Kuulei Reception with dinner, music and a hula show. Morning ceremonies leave the afternoon free for a swim and a nap before the celebration.
